  • CD copiers can

CD copiers can usually burn only one copy at a time. After one CD is copied, the user has to manually open the drive shutter (or press a button provided for that purpose) and replace it with another blank CD for copying. This makes copying CDs with a manual PC copier a slow process.

Automated CD copiers make the burning process much quicker. These have an input spindle and an output spindle. Blank CDs are placed in a stack on the input spindle. A robotic arm picks up blank CDs from the input spindle, one at a time, and sends them into the drive for copying. When the burning process is over, the CD is automatically placed onto the output spindle. This is a hands-free process, but it takes a long time to complete the process.

These automated CD copiers are ideal because the CD copier can be left running overnight or a weekend. A large number of CD or DVD discs can be stacked on the spindle, and the machine can be left to run until the job is complete.

  • Adding other flavours is not

Adding other flavours is not recommended if you’re going to use it for chocolate covered espresso beans, because it might jeopardise the pure coffee-and-cocoa flavour of the final product.

Put the coffee beans on a baking sheet covered with wax paper, and pour molten chocolate over it. Ensure that the beans are laid out in a single layer, and not too far apart from each other. They should be fully covered all around with the chocolate. After the beans have cooled down somewhat, put the whole sheet in a freezer.

If you need glossier, individual beans, you need to use candy molds. Put individual beans in the moulds, and then pour the chocolate. The beans will be easier to pop out of their moulds if you mix a little peanut butter with the chocolate. This process is lengthier, but yields better-looking nuggets that are of more commercial value ? that is, if you’re thinking of selling chocolate covered espresso beans.

  • Two recent studies found that cocoa contains

Two recent studies found that cocoa contains chemicals called flavan-3-ols, which have been associated to lowering blood pressure and increasing function of the blood vessels cells. By consequence, drinking or eating cocoa not only lowers blood pressure, but also diminishes the risk of cardiovascular disease in elderly men, helping them live longer.

Researchers concluded that cocoa is a rich source of antioxidants, therefore its action may also have a positive effect to other disease that are linked to oxidative stress (e.g. pulmonary diseases and certain types of cancer).

The team studied 470 men aged over 65 and asked them questions about their daily intake of cocoa. Based on over 15 year examination of cocoa’s relationship to cardiovascular health within this group, this research team found that men who consumed cocoa regularly had considerable lower blood pressure than those who did not. On the other hand, those men with highest cocoa consumption were at half risk to die from cardiovascular disease in comparison with the others. More than that, their risk remained lower and related to smoking habits, weight, calorie intake, weight, physical activity levels, alcohol consumption and other factors.

The conclusion was that high cocoa and chocolate consumption makes men less likely to die of any cause.

The problem is cocoa is rarely tolerable in large amounts and therefore the suggested therapeutic amount is about 100g of dark chocolate per day.

    Main squeeze: Comparing juicers

When it comes to squeezing an orange, you can twist, press, squish or plug in a plug. Which one’s the best, we wondered. So we lined up four choices and gave each a whirl with a Valencia orange. Here’s the sweet, juicy report.

Mighty OJ Chrome Juicer. $50. Juice per orange half: just less than 1/4 cup. This beauty, all sleek and chrome and retro, the sort of juicer you might have found on the set of “I Love Lucy,” caught our eye, all right. But, egad! Trying to get a drop of juice nearly bruised the palm of our hand, as we tried to push down the handle. We tried and tried

Providing for families and saving should remain priorities under new

After a cloudy start to the week, matters became decidedly frosty, when suddenly the sun broke through.

Having waited for five days, a new administration walked into N o 10. What do es this mean for savers and investors as well those still fortunate enough to have a job? Looking after one’s family, saving for a rainy day and the long-term future should continue to be priorities. Insurance for life and against short an/*d long-term illnesses can be relatively cheap and with careful management of finances should be affordable. This is the easy bit. So far through the global economic crisis no insurance company has failed, so the protection you buy should not disappear through company failure. In any case, much of the insurance liability is re-insured via other insurers so double protection
